Aim: We are raising money to support people in the new Letham Community Hub to help stretch their budgets and keep healthy and active.
Letham4All SCIO is a community led organisation, created by local people who wanted to make a difference to the quality of life for people in their community. They know that impact of low income and poverty has an overwhelming impact of the lives of the young and old . They have worked to create The Hub and provide a wide range of services to support people to improve their financial , physical and mental well being.
The Hub is open to all who can benefit from it services. However, we focus our work with families and children impacted by poverty, young people who are disadvantaged by family poverty, adults of all ages who are most vulnerable as result of poor mental health and well-being and at risk of social isolation, those who are at risk of not achieving their potential to gain positive life outcomes. From the post code data we collect from participants we know that just over 80% come from areas defined by ACORN indicators, Cat 4 Financially Stretched and Cat 5 Urban Adversity. They tell us they often worry about how they managed to feed their families, pay household bills, how much poorer this makes their whole quality of life.
To empower them to tackle these issues and build local resilience to poverty , Letham4All, its volunteers and partners have supported the development of a range of activities including youth work, activities for older people, health and wellbeing activities, financial wellbeing support, family activities, employability and work experience activities. We operate 3 community fridges across Perth City and The Hub Café to reduce food waste and tackle climate challenge while helping reduce food insecurity and tackling poverty as a barrier to health by running a low-cost community gym and fitness activities.
We would use any funding raised to support our Community Fridge Project where people can access free surplus good food and local cost pantry items 7 days a week and also support our very low cost Hub Café where people can access meals and hot drinks. We would also use the funding to remove poverty as barrier to Health and Wellbeing.
