Israel bombed Gaza’s largest bakery in the Nuseirat refugee camp.
Al Nuseirat bakery baked bread 100,000+ daily.
Bombing a bakery serves only to worsen an already catastrophic humanitarian crisis.
Two years ago, with your help we rebuilt Gaza’s largest library (the Samir Mansour Library/Bookshop) following its bombardment by Israeli war planes. Notably, while hospitals, medics, schools, refugee camps and city infrastructure receive post-conflict international aid, family run businesses are often over looked.
In the interest of complete transparency we will issue regular updates. Due to the complete lack of foreseeability in this ever escalating conflict, we are unclear about when and where a rebuild will occur.
*All funds will be held by Crowdfunder until the political climate has stabilised, telecommunications have fully resumed and the owners are ready to rebuild. They are currently baking and distributing bread out of rubble.
*All funds raised will be used to rebuild Gaza’s Nuseirat bakery following an end to the bombardment.
*The owners of the bakery have been contacted and while they want aid – they are incredibly fearful of further collective retribution.
**In the unforeseen event that there is a total or significant forcible transfer of Gaza’s population into Sinai (ethnic cleansing)—we will update and allow donors the right to refund or will redirect funds to an an aid group assisting refugees.
** In the event that the family managing this bakery is all killed and there is no one else left to oversee management, we will distribute funds to other smaller destroyed bakeries.
We recognise that hospitals are the immediate concern, however medical associations receive immediate international aid. This fund will directly benefit a long standing family run enterprise that provides bread to the people of Gaza, Palestine.
